In order to promote The World Games 2009, the Kaohsiung Organizing Committee and the City Government launch a series of events and functions together with the official sponsors.

World Games 2009 Sponsor Carrefour supports the 'Family Road Run' on November 8 and helps to promote the upcoming Pre-Events in the host city. Carrefour invited Chen Wei-ling, the 2008 Beijing bronze medalist in women’s weightlifting, to take part in the Kaohsiung 'Road Run'. Chen is expected to encourage the people of Taiwan to take up regular exercising and to eagerly anticipate The World Games 2009.

As far as Chen is concerned, practising sports is not only a way of improving physical fitness but also an opportunity to bring glory to one's country. In The World Games 2009, Chen will represent Chinese Taipei as a powerlifter. She already won a bronze medal in the weight class 44 - 52 kg at The World Games 2005 Duisburg.
