World Anti-Doping Agency: PLAY TRUE!

During The World Games 2009 held in Kaohsiung, TPE, from 16 to 26 July 2009, a total of 291 anti-doping controls have been performed.

All testing was conducted under the supervision of the International World Games Association’s (IWGA) Medical Commission. The sample collections were carried out by a team of Doping Control Officers – who were assisted by Chaperones from the Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee – and the analyses were performed by a WADA-accredited laboratory in Tokyo, JPN.

Regretfully, the analysis of six (6) samples involving five (5) athletes revealed the presence of forbidden substances. The athletes whose A samples tested positive competed in BodyBuilding and in Sumo.

The positive test results have been forwarded to the IWGA Anti-Doping Panel for further hearing of the athletes, and for the handling of possible violations of the IWGA Anti-Doping Rules by the athletes concerned.

In close collaboration with the World Anti-Doping Agency and the relevant authorities in the host countries, the IWGA makes every effort to ensure 'clean sport' at The World Games.
